ROTA, Spain – If it is the Saturday before Thanksgiving at Naval Station Rota, then it must be time for Rota Morale, Welfare and Recreation’s annual Duathlon. This year’s race was held Nov. 21 and is the last major competition of the year for American and Spanish competitors on base. The first major competition of the year is the half-marathon in March, followed by the widely popular Sprint Triathlon in June.

Spaniard Hector Carrion had the best men’s overall time of 1:18:47. The top finishing Americans were Archir Obias from U.S. Naval Hospital Rota, Spain with a time of 1:25:04, and Kim Mendoza won the women’s overall with a time of 1:23:25.

Saludos!
